Léon,The Professional

September 26, 2008 by theopinions

Leon is an Italian immigrant who fled Italy after having committed a crime there. He now resides in New York City and is working for the mob boss “Uncle” Tony. He lives with his favorite plant in a small apartment in the city next door to a girl he occasionally speaks to whose father is a drug dealer working with crooked DEA officers. One day when she’s out getting groceries the crooked agents murder her entire family in a botched drug deal and upon discovering the massacre upon her return home she walks to the end of the hall to Leon’s apartment who let’s her into not only his home, but into his life as well. Soon enough he’s teaching Mathilda, a young girl, how to be a professional hitman in order for her to learn enough to get revenge on the crooked cops who murdered her family. But when she goes in for revenge and is captured by the crooked agents, Leon comes and saves her and so begins the ultimate theme in the movie: Will Leon and Mathilda live happily ever after now that’s she’s opened up his heart, or will the crooked cops have something to say about it.

METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR CONTROLLING QUALITY OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, AND NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

June 12, 2008 by theopinions

PURPOSE: To provide a method of controlling the quality of water which enables reduction of the concentration of 6OCO ions even in change of the operational environment in the future, by providing a turbine, a condenser, a purifying device, etc., by using as an index the inventory of CO accumulated on a cladding tube of a fuel rod and by controlling the quality of cooling water inside a reactor toward the reduction of the inventory.
CONSTITUTION: As to a corrosion product brought into a reactor pressure vessel 10, a sample collected through a supply water sampling line 14 is measured by a concentration measuring device 17. A hollow yarn membrane filter of 100% by volume is used for a condensate prefilter 4 so that an iron concentration among measured values be 0.1ppb or below, for instance, and oxygen is injected into supply water on the downstream side of a condensate demineralizer 5 and on the upstream side of a supply water pump 6. Thereby the concentration of dissolved oxygen is controlled to be within the range of 20ppb to 200ppb and thus reduction of the corrosion of a carbon steel piping is enabled. When an iron removal rate of the demineralizer 5 lowers and the iron concentration of the supply water is ready to exceed 0.0ppb, the demineralizer 5 is washed back so as to reduce the inventory of accumulated iron. Thereby the quantity of leaking iron is reduced and the iron concentration is lowered.

Nuclear Power Plant Compliance with the Principle of Power-System Indepedence from Safety Systems Operation

June 12, 2008 by theopinions

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to show that during the operation of safety systems at nuclear power plants the principle of independence from the power system, which is one of the basic principles inocrporated in the design of safety systems, is not satisfied and the power system, especially if it is deficient, cannot guarantee the required electricity and protection for safety systems from general failures. To satisfy the independence principle, guarantee the required quality of electricity, and protect the safety systems in nuclear power plants from general failures, it is proposed that the presently operative algorithm for starting up diesel generators be reexamined. When the safety systems at nuclear power plants perform their required functions, they should operate from autonomous diesel generators at the nuclear power plant, which are equipped with electricity quality regulators (frequency and voltage), and not from the power system. It is also suggested that the variant of the algorithm where diesel generators are started up as a preventative measure when the quality of the electricity in the power system drops below admissable limits be reexamined.

RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, March 24 (RIA Novosti) – Obyedinyonnye Mashinostroitelnye Zavody (United Machine-Building Works), or OMZ, plans to finish the supply of equipment for the Indian Kudankulam nuclear power plant in 2006, OMZ’s press release reads.

OMZ and the Atomstroiexport company signed a contract in 2002 to produce equipment for two units with VVER-1000 reactors for Kudankulam.

The Atomstroiexport close corporation is general contractor of the construction of Kudankulam in India.

According to the press release, the check assembly of a VVER-1000 reactor for the second unit of the power plant has been finished.

The reactor vessel for the second unit will be delivered in the second quarter of 2005.

OMZ is to provide the Indian atomic energy corporation with equipment weighing 21,000 metric tons and exceeding $300 million. So far it has delivered over 8.6 metric tons of equipment to the plant.

OMZ is Russia’s largest heavy machinery company, specializing in the engineering, production, sale and maintenance of equipment and machinery for the atomic energy and mining industries. OMZ enterprises are located in Russia and Czechia.
